He was a French artist, initially focused on the creation of a personal symbolic alphabet and later through the technique of décollage, with which he established himself as an "affichiste", together with Mimmo Rotella and Raymond Hains, within the movement of Nouveau Réalism of Pierre Restany, which he joined in 1960. His artistic work was based on posters torn from street walls and then transferred to canvas. In the last part of his life he also devoted himself to sculpture, which takes up the themes of the political alphabet he created.
