WLADIMIRO TULLI (Macerata, 1922-2003)    

He was born in 1922 in Macerata, where he lives and works. He starts his activity very young in 1938, taking part to the Futurist Group "U. Boccioni" in Macerata, where B. Tano encouraged him, by training to a painting less conformist, out of every naturalistic reference, more opened to the fantasy and to the discovery of new shapes. In 1939 he knows F.T. Marinetti and in 1940 E.Prampolini, with whom he exstabilishes a long and lasting relationshipof friendship and research. He takes part with the Boccioni Group at the Futurist Exhibition on March 1940 and in 1942 at the first National Exhibiton of Photoplastic taken place at the Theatre Lauro Rossi of Macerata and many others demonstration of the Group, included some cinematographic experiences. After the death of B.Tano, Tulli becomes the leading spirit of the Group, and in the meantime it starts to emerge from his painting and sculpture works liric elements of surrealistic and abstract basis. In 1942 he knows G.Balla, F.Depero and during that summer I.Pannaggi, when he comes back to Italy. He meets also O.Licini, with whom he becomes friend after the war. In the same year he takes part to the Interprovincial Sindacate exhibition in Marche region, carried out at the Civic Library in Macerata, where he exhibites two low-relief. In 1943 he takes part to the "Fourth Art's Quadriennale of Rome", with "Aeroportrait n.2", low-relief made of aluminium and copper,under the attention of F.T. Marinetti. After this he meets B. Murari, M. Reggiani, M. Radice and L. Veronesi. After the war, the artist started a unique research in the abstaction field, in which the expressive freedom and the happiness of the chromatic discovery will be linked to a strong and exciting interest of the material. During this period he comes in contact with the most important members of the main abstract, concrete, spatial and non-figurative movements, both italians and europeans. In 1950 he knows A. Burri, with whom he becames friend. From the Fifties' he faces the artistic ceramic with new terms, in which he brings the energy and the singularity of his own plastic and pictorial researches. In the Sixties' he enters the "Eclat" Group of Paris, with Wood, Aynard and Poliakoff, and he exhibites many times at the Antipoete Gallery. In 1962 he founds the "Levante" Group of Macerata, in the meantime he travels a lot for study and work to Germany, Spain, Marocco, Tunisia, Yugoslavia, United States, France, Malta, Sweden. During these yearshis aim is very huge about the decoration, wall plastic art and graffiti carried out in Macerata, Pesaro,Bologna, Rimini,Urbino and in 1993 in Porto S. Giorgio at the new seaof the bank of Fermo. In 1998 Macerata dedicates to the artist his anthological exhibition at the Ricci Palace. He makes also several books' pictures and projects of scenographies.
He died in his home in Macerata in 2003.
